In October 1995, I helped create a system for making holographic portraiture. I wrote software to drive a custom shear-lens camera that was built by researcher Mike Klug, capturing 200 different perspective views of a subject in 6.3 seconds.

This animation at right is a selection of just ten of these images, used to make a holographic portrait of me.

The data is then combined using a unique single-step holographic stereogram printing process, also designed by Mike Klug. This process produces a hologram like the one pictured below (click for big jpeg versions) in about 5-10 minutes.
